The HIDDEN EU Project participated at the ITS World Congress 2026 in Gangneung, South Korea, contributing to discussions on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in advancing safer, more reliable, and trustworthy Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM).

Representing the project, Dr Evangelia Portouli on behalf of the project’s coordinator, the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) / I-SENSE Group,  presented HIDDEN during Special Interest Session 16, “AI for Reliable Perception, Decision-Making and Control in CCAM.”. Dr. Portouli, during her presentation, shared some of the project’s first lessons learnt and key developments, including progress on HIDDEN’s ethical and legal framework, situational awareness technologies, and the next steps towards algorithm completion and evaluation. These advancements represent important milestones in the project’s efforts to address critical challenges in automated driving and contribute to safer, more human-centred mobility solutions.

The session was organised and moderated by Dr Johanna (Yanna) Tzanidaki from HIDDEN partner SAE Europe, who brought together experts from ERTICO – ITS Europe, the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), MAPtm, LOTTE INNOVATE, and Bamboos, alongside representatives of the sister projects EEA4CCAM, AutoTRUST, and AIGGREGATE. It was a very engaging discussion which provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and research experiences with the international ITS community, explore common challenges and opportunities in AI-enabled automated mobility.
